California Girls
"We're unforgettable"
Week 1 in Cali
️
️ (Well not a full week but oh well)
Last Tuesday, we had a devotional given to us from Hugo Montoya (not to be confused with Inigo Montoya) from the 70. He talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon. Half way through, he started asking for scriptures or stories from the BoM that have impacted missionaries lives and how we've been impacted. I was able to share 2 Nephi 31:20 which talks about pressing forward with a steadfastness in Christ. And I was the only sister to share a scripture! Woo. Big flex
After the devo, I kept telling myself i wasnt going to go to sleep because there was no point in sleeping as i had to be up in 2 hours anyways. But our cute housemates Hna. Beal and Leonard let us use one of their phones for an alarm. I sure miss those girls. I did end up taking about an hour and a half nap but still got some sleep! And then Wednesday was just full of travel.
We got to the airport around 3 and my personal item got flagged. For what? Im not really sure, i think maybe a half tube of toothpaste. All they saw was 4 Libro de Mormons, Hachi and Butterscotch, and an additional pair of clothes they tell us to pack. Anyways, after waiting what felt like a whole hour of them tearing my bag apart, I was given a thumbs up and had to hurry to our gate. There were 14 other missionaries flying out of Mexico with me, but 2 flew to a different airport than the Dallas airport we all flew into. Elder Jacobik and I then had to leave the 11 others to find our gate. Our layover was only like 30 minutes so we didnt have much time to find our gate. I did however see some wildland firefighters in their greens and yellows. I could have sworn i had seen 3 of them out with Jayden somewhere but couldnt get their names. Elder Jacobik was so confused on how I knew they were firefighters. We started talking a whole new language that poor elder did not understand.
I ended up getting to Cali on probably a good 2 hours of sleep thanks to the 30 minute nap i took on my first flight. Apparently that is impressive here in Cali. The APs were the ones to pick us up from the airport and I told them all about my life... my surgeries on my knee, spraining my ankle 2 days before leaving (which is still very much sprained), sports i played, instruments i play, living in Flaming Gorge (which is also a REALLY big flex out here) Si Senor... and then when the trainers started showing up, Elder Sparrow (one of the APs) had me introduce myself. He kept referring to me as a double edged sword.

Yeah. Not much happened this week. Big week of travel and then a lot of contacting! Were in a car so not much walking for me which is nice but i also dont get to slow down and enjoy the city very often.
Spanish has been fun but I do wish I was in a place where everyone spoke spanish because here in Cali, when we go to knock doors, we find a BUNCH of English speakers and then im not ready to speak Spanish when the time comes.

Scripture of the week!-
Hopefully you missionaries have this memorized.
3 Nephi 5:13/3 Nefi 5:13
13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
13 He aqui, soy dicipulo de Jesucristo, el hijo de Dios. He sido llamado por èl para declarar su palabra entre los de su pueblo, a fin de que alcancen la vida sempiterna.
