Oh Mexico

"Sounds so sweet but I'm going there alone..."

I made it to Ciudad de México! This week has been... crazy, stressful, amazing, beautiful, and EXTREMELY hard. Flying out to México, I was able to meet 3 of my 11 other district members. Two of us four actually had our tickets bumped up to first class... I unfortunately was not one of them... They are teenage boys but boy are they so fun to be around.

Our first day here, we met our Mission Presidency and their wives, got our phones set up and had a little devotional with our Sister Training Leaders and Zone Leaders (STLs and ZLs) and branch presidency.

Our second day here, my companion and I got stopped on our way back to our apartment by our branch president and were asked to be the new STLs since Sunday was the last Sunday our STLs would be here... Yikes

In our branch, we have some of the sweetest sister companionships! I have been trying to talk to the 3 week missionaries as much as I can because they have been helping me so much expand my conversation skills in Spanish! They're so sweet.

Dad, I know you said we would have some struggles with some companions but I didnt expect it to be with my first one! Growing up in Dutch John, we had to be ready early for EVERYTHING so my mind is used to being 5-10 minutes early to everything. I get stressed if we're not 5 minutes early. And her escuse is "we wont be the only ones..."

Shes always making me do what she wants to do and when she asks me what I want to do, she says, "well I'd rather do this"

Theres a train close to the CCM and it sounds every so often which makes me remeber those late nights at Grandma and Grandpa Guymons house and it definitely does not help with the homesickness.

I miss everyone back home and miss mi perritos so much. I just want everyone to be in Mexico with me. Yall better book your flight right now...

Lets see... Some highlights of the week...
•I didnt have to fly to México not knowing any of the missionaries! There were 3 Elders from my district on my flight
•Meeting Distrito 6 in person and nos maestros Hno Ontiveros y Cabrera
•Becoming the new STLs for our branch
•Meeting the 3 week missionaries who only speak Spanish and getting to talk with them at dinner almost every night
•It rains almost everyday so I often times get to dance in the rain during our 10 minute breaks
• I see Elder Welch in passing or in the comedor which is pretty awesome
•I finally found an open piano and got to play for 40 minutes
•The devotionals here are amazing!
• and the after devotionals are so cool! 400-500 missionaries group together outside of our classrooms from 8:45-9:00 pm and we get to sing hymns together! It's so fun

One of the sisters that live in the same apartment as I, gave me the idea of writing down songs that get stuck in my head so here is that because I miss music so much...

Some songs I've had stuck in my head
Oh, Mexico - Jeremy Zucker
Malbec - Humbe
Honor to us all - Mulan
Make a man out of you - Mulan
Beautiful Things - Benson Boone
Savior, Redeemer of my Soul
A child's prayer
Talking to the moon - Bruno Mars
Jealous - Labrynth
Homeward bound - Peter Hollens
Consider the Lillies

I cannot wait to be out in the field where I can listen to other music, not just hymns :)

Have a great week, now here are some pictures...
